Nobel Prize winner Rae Kwon Chung will speak at 2020 Gaidar Forum at RANEPA
Professor Rae Kwon Chung, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007, will take part in the discussion of the best practices for achieving sustainable development goals as part of the 11th Gaidar Forum, which will be held at RANEPA form January 15-16, 2020.
Rae Kwon Chung is a is a universally recognized global expert and one of the most enthusiastic supporters of green growth, a member of the Global Energy Prize International Award Committee and Professor Emeritus at Incheon National University, South Korea. As a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), he was awarded with the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 “for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change.”
He has been working on environmental issues and climate change since the early 1990s, and was an active participant in the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. In the past, Rae Kwon Chung served as Director-General for International Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Korea.
In 2019, he gave lectures for students and teachers at the Presidential Academy, and joined the multidisciplinary bachelor's program on sustainable development at RANEPA Institute of Finance and Sustainable Development (IFSD) as its academic director.
