Marek Belka, a famous Polish politician and economist, to give a speech at the Gaidar Forum-2017

Marek Belka, Polish Economist, Prime Minister of Poland (2004-2005), shall take part in the central discussion of the Gaidar Forum-2017 Russia and the World: Setting Priorities.

Marek Belka was twice Minister of Finance of Poland (1997, 2001-2002), Prime Minister, he also was a consultant to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Ownership Transformation in Poland. He also served as a consultant to the World Bank for projects implemented in Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, Uzbekistan and China.

Since 2003, Marek Belka was an economic adviser to the Iraqi Interim Government. In this post, he launched a new national currency in the country. In 2004, on the initiative of Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski, Marek Belka was appointed Prime Minister instead of Leszek Miller who resigned in the context of the Poland's accession to the EU.

Marek Belka left his government service in 2005. Since 2008, he became the Director of the European Department of the International Monetary Fund. From June 2010 through June 2016, he was President of the National Bank of Poland.
