Gaidar Forum Experts discuss young people’s outlook on Russia's future

On January 14, RANEPA hosted an expert discussion on young people’s involvement in the country’s economic and political life as part of the Gaidar Forum 2017.

The experts discussed how young Russians see country's future; what the qualitative and quantitative characteristics are needed to describe that model of the future; what strategic goals to need to be met to achieve this model of the future; and what problems the younger generation could solve at this stage.

In 2015, to engage young citizens in the process of the country’s socio-economic development and organize young Russians’ proposals into a concept of socio-economic development of Russia, the Federation Council started a nationwide project, Strategy for the Future. Vyacheslav Timchenko, member of the Federation Council; and one of the session moderators, spoke about the development of the strategy the younger generation will be implementing until 2024. “At this stage, there is a need for structural change in the various barriers that impede the country’s development. We believe that young people are the main source of innovative ideas, which is why they are capable of meeting the society’s need,” the speaker said.

Organizers of the Gaidar Forum: “The Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration” (RANEPA), The Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy (Gaidar Institute) and the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia (AIRR).
