Gaidar Forum at RANEPA will open with two education-related events
The first day of the 10th Gaidar Forum will begin with a Forbes business breakfast and a session of Trianon dialogue, Russia - France: New Education Technologies.
The Forbes business breakfast, organized with the support of the Prosveshcheniye group of companies, will be attended by business leaders and key private investors in Russian schools, including President and Chairman of Sberbank Herman Gref, Chairman of the Board of Alfa Bank Pyotr Aven, President of Prosveshcheniye Management Company Vladimir Uzun, Chairman of the Board of PharmStandard Viktor Kharitonin, social entrepreneur Ruben Vardanyan, Chairman of the Board of Freight One Alexander Voloshin, founder of the Letovo school for gifted and motivated children Vadim Moshkovich, founder of the Dar charitable foundation Nikita Mishin, Presdient of the Russian-American Council for Business Cooperation David Yakobashvili and others.
“Investment in human capital has always been and will remain a key factor affecting economic development and the level of welfare in a country. In Russia, private investment in education is imbalanced, with pre-school institutions being of greater interest to domestic investors, while grade schools and universities, to a lesser extent. The main goal of the Forbes business breakfast is to discuss private and public partnership and investment mechanisms in the field of education, and consider the most successful commercial practices,” the event moderator, Forbes Russia editorial director Nikolai Uskov, said.
The participating experts will discuss the importance of private educational institutions and determine where private money feels more comfortable: secondary school, special education, high school, or business education. They will identify the differences and similarities between the motivation of the state and private individuals, reflect on the reasons why endowment does not work in Russia, and consider what impedes the private money inflow to the education system.
The following experts will make keynote reports at the Trianon Dialogue session: French Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation Frédérique Vidal and Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Mikhail Kotyukov. Heads of leading universities in Russia and France will take part in the discussion: RANEPA Rector Vladimir Mau, MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov, Foreign Trade Academy Rector Sergei Sinelnikov-Murylev, President of Sorbonne University Jean Chambaz, President of the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis Emmanuel Tric, President of the French College at Lomonosov Moscow State University Marek Halter and its director Luc Aubry, and others.
