Yves Jongen, a citizen of Belgium, is a Civil Engineer in electronics with an additional certification in nuclear sciences. After having managed the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve’s Cyclotron Research Center, he founded Ion Beam Applications S.A. (IBA*) in 1986. Currently he is the Chief Research Officer and a member of the executive committee of IBA.
Patents and Publications:
Author of more than a dozen patents and about 200 publications in the particle accelerator field and their applications.
Prizes and Awards:
The Georges Vanderlinden prize for science, given by the Belgian Royal Academy, for work in Physics and Electricity, shared with Guido Ryckewaert.
1997: Entrepreneur of the year, with Pierre Mottet (competition organized in the French speaking part of Belgium by the magazine Trends-Tendances).
