Bernd Marin is Director of the European Bureau for Policy Consulting and Social Research in Vienna since 2016.
In 2019/2020 he is a Europe’s Futures Fellow at the Institut für die Wissenschaften vom Menschen (IWM) in Vienna. 2015 to 2018 he was Coordinator of the international "Social Inclusion Monitoring (SIM) Europe Reform Barometer" Project of the Bertelsmann Stiftung.
2015/2016 he was Rektor of the US-American Webster Vienna Private University.1988-2015 he served as Executive Director of the European Centre for Social Welfare Policy and Research, affiliated to the United Nations, in Vienna.
1984-1988 he was Professor of Comparative Political and Social Research at the European University Institute (EUI), the EU University in Florence, and Head of the Department of Political and Social Sciences 1986/1987.
Between 1981 and 2019, he has been Visiting Professor and giving lectures in many of the most renowned universities and research centers worldwide and served as a policy advisor to the UN, to various governments and public administrations, to NGOs, and inter-governmental organizations, co-operating with institutions such as The World Bank, OECD, WHO, ILO, ISSA, the Commission of the European Communities, the Council of Europe, EBRD, etc. 2012 to 2019 he served as an expert to UN-ECE in Geneva and to the EU Commission in Brussels on Pensions, Ageing and the Active Ageing Index (AAI).
