US Economist Jeffrey Sachs will discuss longterm development challenges at Gaidar Forum
One of the world-class experts taking part in the Gaidar Forum 2017 is American economist Jeffrey Sachs, Special Advisor to UN Secretary-General, Director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University.
Dr. Sachs will participate in the panel discussion, The Contours of Sustainable Development are Outlined Today, on the first day of the forum, January 12, 2017.
His ideas and methods for the transition from a centrally planned system to a market economy have been successfully applied various economies in transition. Since the mid-1990s, he has been involved in administering economic reforms in a number of Asian countries, including India and China.
Dr. Sachs is one of the world's leading experts in the field of economic development and poverty alleviation. The Harvard professor developed a new master's program in the field of development programs (Masters of Development Practice (MDP)). A leading expert in sustainable development, Dr. Sachs has authored several best-sellers and articles published in more than 100 countries around the world.
The New York Times has described Dr. Sachs as “probably the most important economist in the world” these days. According to The Economist, he is among the three most influential economists of the past decade.
