Leading foreign political analysts will speak at Gaidar Forum at RANEPA
The 10th Gaidar Forum, Russia and the World: National Development Goals and Global Trends, to be held at the Presidential Academy on January 15-17, 2019, will be attended by foreign experts in political science, Thomas Remington and Daniel Drezner, as well as regional planning specialist Daniel Zupan.
Thomas F. Remington is Goodrich C. White Professor (Emeritus) of Political Science at Emory University. He is also a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University and an Associate of the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies at Harvard University (USA) and a Senior Researcher at the International Center for the Study of Institutions and Development at the Higher School of Economics. Professor Remington is a past member of the Board of Directors of the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies. In the 1990s and early 2000s, he helped plan and direct a series of workshops for parliamentarians in a number of cities in Russia.
Remington's research focuses on Russia; he is the author of several articles and books on the political situation in our country, including Presidential Decrees in Russia: A Comparative Perspective and The Russian Parliament: Institutional Evolution in a Transitional Regime. He is interested in comparative legislative policy and social policy in countries in transition and research on the development of political institutions in post-communist states, legislative-executive relations, and labor market and social welfare institutions in Russia and China.
Daniel Drezner, Professor of International Politics at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University (USA), will also speak at the Gaidar Forum. Professor Drezner is a senior fellow at the International Order and Strategy Project at the Brookings Institution (USA), a member of the American Political Science Association, the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and the International Research Association. PhD in Political Science, Drezner has published articles in numerous scholarly journals as well as in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Washington Post. He is also the author of several books on the global economy and trading strategies and policies in the United States.
Daniela Zupan is currently working in Moscow as a Research Fellow at the Institute of Regional Studies and Urban Planning of the National Research University Higher School of Economics. Her research interests focuses on models of urban planning and design. Currently she is conducting a comparative research examining the multiple genealogies of the compact mixed-use ‘European’ city model in Germany, Russia, and Austria. Zupan is the author of works on territorial planning and urban planning.
The Gaidar Forum is a major international expert conference bringing together those who influence the socio-economic development of regions and states. The 10th forum will include over 90 events such as panels and expert discussions, debates, analytical reports, open lectures, and roundtables.
The forum was organized by the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), the Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy (Gaidar Institute), and the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia (AIRR).
