“Leading Companies and Universities: Technology Breakthrough Tasks and Recipes” Discussion Was Held at GF-2018
On January 16 chiefs of corporations, state organizations and leading higher educational establishments of the country met at the expert discussion “Leading Companies and Universities: Technology Breakthrough Tasks and Recipes” within the framework of Gaidar Forum.
According to federal statistics data, the funds of business interested in development of innovation technologies make up not more than 4% in budgets of state higher educational establishments. Andrey Volkov, Academic policy advisor of “Skolkovo” and a discussion moderator, outlined issues for discussion for experts and participants, one of which was the following: “In what circumstances will business corporations cooperate with universities in a more active way?”
Elena Bunina, General Director of “Yandex”, spoke on partnership and interaction between “Yandex” and Russian higher educational establishments.
Pavel Ershov, Chief Operations Officer of “Microsoft Russia”, pointed out that their company interacts with the whole educational sphere of Russia and contributes to its development.
Dmitry Pumpyansky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of “TMK” Company, emphasized that it is necessary to develop research capacity of universities in Russia to meet high international standards.
All experts shared the opinion that modern higher educational establishments can and must take the form of a corporation. This will promote establishing relations of partnership between universities and business organizations.
The organizers include the Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), the Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy (Gaidar Institute) and the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia (AIRR).
