Herman Gref and Anatoly Chubais will determine the role of technological revolution in the economy at Gaidar Forum
On January 13, 2017, day two of the Gaidar Forum, Sberbank head Herman Gref and Rusnano chief Anatoly Chubais will take part in the discussion Technological Challenges and Economic Dynamics: What is Really Going on?
The relevance of this issue has been repeatedly emphasized in the course of other expert meetings in previous years, and this year the Gaidar Forum organizing committee allocated time especially for this discussion. According to forum director Ivan Fedotov, technological challenges and economic dynamics are the focus of one of the most interesting sessions of the conference. “We will discuss the nature of the technological revolution now underway in the world, and how it will affect the economic growth estimates – something the world’s leading economists are debating,” Dr. Fedotov said.
During the discussion, the participants will identify technological foundations for economic growth, and consider the typical methods of assessment – whether they are up-to-date or obsolete. They will draw similarities with the Great Depression, the period the GDP phenomenon emerged. What should we expect from the current global recession? What are the institutional implications of new technologies? The participants will attempt to answer these and other questions.
The meeting will be moderated by RANEPA Rector Vladimir Mau, one of Russia’s top experts in economic theory. President and Chairman of the Board of Sberbank Herman Gref and Chairman of the Executive Board of Rusnano Anatoly Chubais will give their expert opinion on the issue. Other participants will include Director of the Industry Development Fund Alexei Komissarov and President of Microsoft Russia Pavel Betsis.
