Gaidar Forum experts discuss what skills business leaders should be taught and how
The expert discussion, Entrepreneur: How and What to Teach?, was held on January 16, the first day of 2018 Gaidar Forum.
At the beginning of the discussion, the speakers brainstormed the properties that, in their opinion, characterize an entrepreneur and are part of a business leader’s indispensable toolkit. They came up with empathy, tolerance, the ability to persuade and to be persuaded, leadership qualities, inner firmness, and the need to keep up with the times to promptly discern existing or emerging trends. All participants unanimously agreed that an entrepreneur needs “to do crazy things, to dream, to risk.”
“Any smooth-running business always starts with a crazy idea that you cannot see from the distance of your outstretched hand,” Cotton Way CEO Alexander Utkin said.
Then all the ideas named by the speakers were organized and the participants were asked to vote. According to the majority, the top quality of a modern entrepreneur is the ability to be flexible, to quickly make and implement decisions.
The organizers include the Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), the Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy (Gaidar Institute) and the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia (AIRR).
