Gaidar Forum experts discuss ways to evaluate qualifications in the tourism industry
Speakers at the Gaidar Forum 2017 session on tourism have discussed independent evaluation of qualifications, areas of risk and growth for business and building frameworks and procedures for an independent evaluation of qualifications in the hospitality industry.
In 2016, Russia adopted the Federal Law ‘On the independent evaluation of qualifications’ introducing Professional Qualifications Councils that evaluate the federal state educational standards’ compliance with professional standards. This novelty gave rise to a number of problems such as professional programs’ non-compliance with professional standards and the lack of different evaluation tools for qualifications in the higher and secondary vocational education. Changes in evaluation methods are needed, and they are being implemented today.
Igor Bukharov, President of the Federation of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers, Dean of RANEPA Hotel and Restaurant Business Department, said the new system of scores to evaluate activities has already found positive response from people.
