Experts discussed the social responsibility of business at the Gaidar Forum 2019

On January 17, on the final day of the Gaidar Forum 2019, representatives of business education from Russia and other countries met at the “Innovative Technologies and Social Responsibility of Business” discussion platform.

Natalya Evtikhieva, moderator of the event, CEO of Russian Association for Business Education (RABE) and the National Board of Business Education Quality Assessment (NASDOBR) noted: “The global development trends of business corporations have led to a new focus on assessing the quality of management education with an emphasis on its effectiveness, practical orientation, and compliance with the best international standards and practices.”

The concept of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) originated in the United States. In accordance with the CSR, organizations take into account the interests of society, placing responsibility for the influence of their activities on all interested parties in the public sphere. Experts discussed within the international space how organizations voluntarily take additional measures to improve the quality of life of workers and their families.

Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive of AMBA & BGA focused his attention on the limited resources of the planet. According to him, today people consume more goods than they produce, and this may lead to a rapid depletion of the Earth. In order to save humanity and preserve natural resources, social responsibility of business is a central element in the development of new management strategies.

Asylbek Kozhakhmetov, President of Almaty Management University, President of the Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan noted: “We see that the role of universities in the system of innovative development of territories is gradually increasing. Today this issue is widely discussed both within the academic community and at a state level. A modern university should act as a leader in interaction with the state, business, and society”.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is expressed in the readiness of a business corporation to voluntarily bear non-binding social expenditures beyond the limits established by tax, labor, environmental and other legislation, based not on the requirements of the law, but on moral and ethical considerations. Experts agreed that the introduction of CSR ensures the development and stabilization of the organization in the market: the growth of production volumes, the improvement of the company's reputation, the formation of corporate identity.
