Education national project to be discussed at 10th Gaidar Forum at RANEPA
The participants of the 10th Gaidar Forum at the Presidential Academy will discuss problems at various levels of education in Russia, as well as the possibility of attracting private capital, the problems facing modern schools and the Education national project.
The first day of the Gaidar Forum, January 15, will start with the Forbes business breakfast, where experts will discuss the need for private educational institutions and private investment in education. The guests will share their opinion on which level of education private investors feel more comfortable with and what forms of cooperation between universities and philanthropists are more effective. The discussion will be moderated by Forbes Editorial Director Nikolai Uskov.
On the same day, the participants in the expert session, Why does the State need the School? will also discuss the problems of the Russian school, in particular, how much the state and parents/children coincide in their expectations of the general secondary school and what the state gets from the school’s activities. Is there a place for business at the school? Who and how should regulate the contents of the school education? The discussion will be attended by representatives of federal ministries and agencies, as well as heads of schools and universities. Director of RANEPA FIRO Maxim Dulinov and Vice-President of the Russian Textbook Corporation Andrei Galiyev will moderate the session.
On January 16, forum experts will talk about the impact of education on economic growth. The session Education and Economic Growth: Strategy for the Future will embrace such questions as which level of education should get more investments to produce the maximum effect on the economic growth, and how human capital can accelerate economic growth. Heads of higher educational institutions, representatives of ministries and foreign experts will take part in the session.
Maxim Dulinov will also moderate the discussion National Project “Education”: 9 Lives of the Regions on January 17. The experts will look into the progress of the national project in the Russian regions which now have several Quantorium science parks for children; Centers for advanced professional training and continuous improvement of pedagogical skills; as well as workshops in secondary vocational education institutions, all developed with federal money. The main question is whether the regions have enough resources (both human and financial) to keep the new infrastructure running? Will the state cope without the help of business? RANEPA Rector Vladimir Mau, representatives of public authorities, heads of Russian regions and representatives of universities will share their opinions on these matters.
