Vladimir Soloviev is Professor and Chair of Data Analysis, Decision Making, and Financial Technology Department at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.
Professor Soloviev joined the Financial University in 2011. While being the Chief Information Officer of the Financial University from 2011 to 2016, Vladimir has implemented an ambitious program of the university’s technological transformation.
Since September 2016, Professor Soloviev leads the Department of Data Analysis, Decision Making, and Financial Technology at Financial University. He is now responsible for transformation of the university’s academic and research activities in the field of Applied Mathematics, Statistics, and Information Technology to satisfy the needs of the digital world.
Vladimir has an extensive experience in information technology and IT management in various industries. He started in 1990 as an IT support engineer, then he worked as a system administrator and a systems developer; since 1995 he managed IT projects and IT departments in banking, finance, mass-media, construction, and education.
Since 1997 Vladimir also worked as an Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor of Applied Mathematics and Business Information at State University of Management, Plekhanov Russian Economic University, Moscow Power-Engineering Institute (Technical University), and Financial University. Professor Soloviev published 30+ books, 100+ research papers, and 30+ articles in professional magazines.
Vladimir Soloviev holds a DSc degree in Mathematical Economics from Central Economics and Mathematics Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a PhD degree in Mathematical Economics from State University of Management (Moscow, Russia), an MSc degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from Lomonosov Moscow State University, and an Executive MPA degree in Higher Education Management from Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO. Vladimir also graduated from International Management Teachers Academy, Microsoft CIO Academy, and CIO Academy under the Russian CIO Union.
Professor Soloviev received three Project of the Year Awards (in 2014, 2015, and 2016) from GlobalCIO for the Financial University’s IT transformation. He is also a winner of the Award for the State Support of Young Russian Scientists from the President of the Russian Federation, the Award in Science and Technology from the Government of Moscow, and Professor B. L. Ovsievich Memorial Prize for research achievements.
