Biography

May 21, 2012: Appointed Minister of Health by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation

2008 – 2012: Deputy Minister of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation

Since 2005: Director, Russian Stroke Research Institute, Russian State Medical University

Since 1997: Head, Fundamental and Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery Department, Russian State Medical University

1995 – 1997: Assistant Professor, Neuropathology Department, Russian State Medical University

1994: Conferred qualification of the Neurologist of the highest category

1989 – 1995: Assistant, Neuropathology Department, Russian State Medical University

1989: headed one of the first Russian Neurocritical Care Service of the City Clinical Hospital No. 1 organized on the basis of the neurologic clinic of the 2nd Moscow State Medical Institute.

1983: Graduated from the Moscow Order of Lenin State Medical Institute named after N.I. Pirogov

Completed a Postgraduate Clinical Residency Programme and an Advanced Postgraduate Programme specialising in diseases of the nervous system.

For 25 years worked in the 2nd Moscow State Medical Institute (since 1991 – Russian State Medical University, RSMU).

Initiated establishment of the National Stroke Association and serves as its Vice President
