Mr. Vardanian graduated with honors from the Moscow State University. He was an intern at BANCA CRT (Turin, Italy), finished Merrill Lynch's Emerging Markets Training Program in New York City, as well as coursework at INSEAD (Fontainebleau, France) and Harvard Business School in 2001 and 2005.
Mr. Vardanian was acknowledged as a Businessperson of the Year by the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia for his significant contribution to business in Russia and commitment to the highest standards of business ethics." He was also named the "Investment Banker of the Year" according to the annual Person of the Year award by RosBusinessConsulting in 2003. In 2001, Mr. Vardanian was included in the list of “25 Rising Stars of New Generation” by Fortune magazine. He is also ranked as one of Russia's top three business leaders by the National Association of Managers. In 2004, he won Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Russia. That same year, he was named "Investment Banker of the Year" within the “Fund Market Elite” contest by NAUFOR. In 2006, Mr. Vardanian was awarded the prestigious "ARISTOS" prize handed out annually by the National Managers Association and Kommersant Publishing, with recognition for "special merit in business development." In 2008, he was given the "Best Reputation on the Financial Market" award by Finance magazine. In 2010, he was voted "Best Business Speaker" (nomination of the national award "Financial Olympus" was established in conjunction with the "Media Capital" award in the field of financial journalism). In 2011, for his significant contribution to the protection of national interests and many years of fruitful activity in the name of Armenia he was awarded the St. Mesrop Mashtots Order by President of the Republic of Armenia.
