From 2001 to 2005 Dmitry Didenko participated in academic research projects with the Institute for Multidisciplinary Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences; from 2007 to 2017 with the Institute of Sociology, Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2017 he obtained the position of Leading Researcher with the Federal Center of Theoretical and Applied Sociology.
Since 1995 he has worked with Russian financial institutions in the fields of applied research and analytics (since 2005 to present – with the Vnesheconombank).
He received his Doctor of Science in Economics (habilitation degree) from the Institute of Economics, Russian Academy of Sciences in 2016 and Candidate of Science in History (PhD equivalent) from the Russian Independent Institute of Social and Nationalities Problems in 2000.
In 1993 he graduated from Kaluga Tsiolkovsky State Pedagogical Institute (Specialty: History, Social Sciences and Law).
Dmitry Didenko is a member of the Association for History and Computing (since 1998 to present), the New Economic Association (since 2010 to present).
His academic research is devoted to formation and efficiency of human capital as a factor of social and economic development, history of knowledge-intensive economy, financial markets and their institutions.
Dmitry Didenko is the author and co-author of monographs and articles (c.a. 100 academic works) which were published in highly rated economic and financial journals.
He contributed to the Clio-Infra international project that has set up a number of large historical datasets on long-run socio-economic development of countries and regions (Utrecht University)
